Physiotherapy / Physical Therapy is a rehabilitation discipline specializing in assessing and improving movement and function while relieving pain and optimizing healing.
Physiotherapists promote good health and help individuals and athletes return to pre-injury status and sports. A sports physiotherapist plans, organizes and directs programs of pre-season screening, first aid, rehabilitation, education and counseling for athletes, coaches and others concerned with sports. He/she may work directly with athletes or may undertake a consulting role for sports organizations.
Physiotherapists have direct access, which means there is no need for physician referral to access the service. We are fully trained to assess orthopedic and mechanical injuries and also to recognize when medical attention is required. Physiotherapy is covered under most health care plans.
